Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's parents moved to Louisiana at the beginning of decade of the 1990s. Decker won a regional talent competition with a rendition from Patsy's I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart in the year she was just nine years old. Decker's family relocated from Louisiana into Georgia during the summer of 1995. She began writing songs, and was making frequent trips to Nashville. In search of an agreement, she visited music publishing houses and record labels. She was just 17 when she was spotted by an independent label representative Big Yellow Dog Records who began shopping her songs to various labels and artists. The moment Mercury Records president David Massey was introduced to Decker's work, he passed the songs on to L.A. Reid head of the associated Island/Def Jam label group and Reid signed her to the terms of a recording contract. Then, in August of 2009 Decker made her debut self-titled album, titled Jessie James. Jessie James achieved a reasonable degree of success and had Wanted reaching the Top 40 charts. But while Decker had always considered herself as a singer from the country genre, the album was made and promoted using a popular audience in minds. Decker fought against the label for more control of her music following two previous singles did not succeed. Her next release, Boys in the Summer was a more traditional album. Decker's second studio album was released with the name Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury was able to cancel it, as three of her country singles performed poorly. Her album was eventually released.
