Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's parents moved to Louisiana at the beginning of decade of the 1990s. Decker won a regional talent competition with a rendition from Patsy's I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart in the year she was just nine years old. Decker's family relocated from Louisiana into Georgia during the summer of 1995. She began writing songs, and was making frequent trips to Nashville. In search of an agreement, she visited music publishing houses and record labels. She was just 17 when she was spotted by an independent label representative Big Yellow Dog Records who began shopping her songs to various labels and artists. The moment Mercury Records president David Massey was introduced to Decker's work, he passed the songs on to L.A.
